I photographed an amazing three day wedding for Sam & Debbie and this was my very first time to Lake Como (and I hope it isn’t the last.) These two met the usual way- an underground rifle range in London(!) Debbie grew up near Milan so it was a beautiful homecoming to have their wedding in this part of Italy. Friday night’s welcome drinks were at Castello di Vezio and the views over Lake Como were breathtaking. Guests came from all corners of the globe and as Debbie is part Bulgarian a tradition is for the Groom to rescue her before the wedding. What better setting than a real life Castle complete with drawbridge and a Knight helmet!? It was bonkers and I loved it.
The wedding day took place just a couple of minutes away at Agriturismo Castello di Vezio. Debbie got ready outside a lake house with incredible views and then after a mad dash up the hill they had a (pretty warm) outdoor ceremony which Sam’s Aunty Veronica hosted. There were readings and speeches through the day in English, Italian and Bulgarian. We ate outside and danced in the evening. The band were brilliant and got everyone moving (not that some family members needed the invitation!) On Sunday there was a pool party which I covered for a couple of hours. It was one of those weekends where I had to pinch myself that I was actually here- in Lake Como- photographing such a joyful wedding. I’m very grateful to you Sam & Debbie for bringing me out for your awesome wedding!
Thanks so much Olly, the images are so amazing. It’s so lovely to be able to re-live the day though these great pictures!
