Documentary Family Photography

Being a Husband to Kirsty and a Dad to Caleb and Rose I so appreciate photographs of us together as a family. I know first hand how fast families grow up and how important it is to have images that document afternoons or days in your family’s life that show what actually happened and genuine connections rather than everyone standing in front of a white backdrop having to say “sausages”! My approach to family photography is to spend time with a family doing something they love to do. I take on family commissions in Kent, London and elsewhere and prices start from £500. Here’s some galleries of previous family shoots…

The Taylor Family

The Taylors were a wonderful family to photograph. We went on a walk down to the river where they’ve often walked together as a family during the lockdown period this year. We came back to the garden and Eddi wowed everyone with his juggling skills (including the Photographer). Eddi said “There’s not many people that could make us feel relaxed and not awkward during a photoshoot…but Olly managed it. It just felt like we were out for a walk catching up with a good friend, but somehow he also managed to capture the most amazing pictures of our family that we absolutely love! Olly has captured a small glimpse of our family life so wonderfully and we will definitely be using him again in the future.

The Hawkins Family

I got to photograph my friend and fellow Wedding Photographer Simon Hawkins on his 40th Birthday with his family at The Grove Ferry Picnic Site near Canterbury. His Daughter and Wife bought him a kayak so they had a picnic, pumped up the kayak and then went out on the river in it. Simon’s Wife Katie is a wedding hair and make up artist and we were all talking about how we miss weddings but family time this Summer has been such a treat!

The Butler Family

My friends The Butlers booked me to do a family shoot last week for them. This was the first time I’ve been able to work as a Photographer since we went into lockdown in March. The shoot was amazing. I spent some time photographing Will, Emily and their two girls playing in the garden and then I documented their walk across the fields next to their house. I appreciated jokes made up by a 4 year old, lots of skipping and some really sweet moments between the two Sisters as they held hands out on the walk. Emily said Time with Olly was a TOTAL joy! We genuinely forgot he was there to take pictures and we were just chatting and laughing together. The photos are totally beautiful and capture the heart of our little family, we adore them and will treasure them so much.

The Easton Family

I spent the morning photographing the Easton Family in Herne (near Canterbury). During lockdown they’ve been doing lots of work in their garden and they’ve made it brilliant for their young kids Elsie & Elliot with swings, little wooden houses and a pond to go and feed the fish in. I really enjoyed photographing them as a family as they did all these things together. Hannah said Olly made us feel so at ease in our own home whilst taking photos, this made it much easier capturing wonderfully natural photos of our young family.I love the photos we now have to mark this chapter in our lives. A huge thank you Olly
