About Olly Knight Photography

I’m Olly Knight— a documentary wedding photographer, based in Canterbury, Kent, photographing weddings across the UK and abroad.

I’ve photographed 400+ weddings, won a few awards along the way, and spent more Saturdays than I can count quietly observing people at their most relaxed, emotional, and occasionally slightly chaotic.

Which, as it turns out, is exactly where the good stuff happens.

What I actually do (in plain English)

I don’t stage moments.

I don’t turn your wedding into a photoshoot.

And I’m not going to spend half your day telling you where to stand or what to do with your hands.

Instead, I:

  • blend in
  • pay attention
  • and document what’s actually happening
  • quickly make friends along the way

The big moments, the small ones, and everything in between.

A bit of background

I didn’t get into weddings because I love posing people (I don’t).

I got into it because I’m interested in people.

How they interact. How they react. The in-between moments that most people don’t even realise are happening.

Weddings are full of that stuff.

And when you strip everything back, that’s what matters.

Experience

I’ve photographed weddings in:

  • barns
  • stately homes
  • back gardens
  • slightly chaotic dancefloors

In:

  • bright sunshine
  • heavy rain
  • and venues so dark you start questioning your life choices

After 400+ weddings, not much surprises me anymore.

Which is useful—because weddings have a habit of not going exactly to plan (just ask me about the power cut for two hours during the party in a castle!)

Awards & recognition

I’m very shy about this… but as you asked…

  • UK Wedding Photographer of the Year 2026 (The Wedding Industry Awards)
  • South East Wedding Photographer of the Year 2024, 2025 and 2026
  • Ranked in the Top 10 Wedding Photographers in the World by This is Reportage
  • Eight Fearless Awards awards for documentary wedding photography

Awards aren’t everything—but they’re a decent indicator that I’m not just making this up as I go along (well… I kind of am but don’t tell anyone…)

How I approach a wedding day

Pretty simply:

I let it happen. No interference unless it’s actually needed. No forcing moments. No turning things into something they’re not.

You get to:

  • spend time with your people
  • enjoy your day
  • forget there’s a camera around

And I’ll be there, capturing it.

What couples usually say afterwards

A few common themes:

  • “We barely noticed you were there”
  • “You captured things we didn’t even see”
  • “It actually feels like our day”

Which is exactly the point.

Who I’m a good fit for

You’ll probably like working with me if:

  • You don’t want to be posed all day
  • You’d rather enjoy your wedding than perform for it
  • You like honest, slightly imperfect moments over polished ones
  • You want photos that feel like you

And who I’m probably not for

If you’re after:

  • lots of editorial-style portraits
  • highly styled, controlled images
  • or someone to direct the entire day

I’m probably not the right fit. And that’s completely fine.

Where I work

I’m based in Kent, but I photograph weddings:

  • across the UK
  • and internationally

If it involves people, a bit of emotion, and the potential for something unexpected—I’m in.

Final bit (no hard sell)

Choosing a wedding photographer is a big decision. There are loads of talented people out there, all doing things slightly differently. If my approach feels like the right fit—great. If not, that’s fine too.
