St Alphege Church is in the centre of Whitstable and I had the pleasure of photographing Chris & Alexa’s Wedding ceremony there. Chris is from Kent and Alexa is from Canada and they are two of the kindest people I’ve met. Alexa works in humanitarian aid and Chris volunteers at a soup kitchen as well as doing his job in finance. These two really care about people and that was obvious throughout their wedding day. Guests from all over the world came to Whitstable to celebrate with them. Alexa got ready at Kiora House on the seafront and then they had their first look on the beach. I’ve shot close to 250 weddings now but this is only the second time I’ve photographed a first look! I loved it and got quite teary behind the camera. Their ceremony took place at St Alphege Church and Chris’ friend Mark led through the ceremony. Then it was onto East Quay for delicious food, sunsets and dancing! An apology from me to the Bride for sending her this text on her wedding morning… “Alexa, who’s getting married today?”… “I’m just working that out…. it’s Chris and Alexa!!” See what I did there?! Chris & Alexa sent me a message to say “Olly, we knew you’d take the most beautiful photos (and the photos you took at our wedding are our favourite photos of our favourite people). What we couldn’t know was how incredible you’d be on the day itself: you were there to capture our most intimate moments without making your presence felt, while at the same time being this amazing, calming, excited and excitable presence. You were the biggest hit with our friends and family — and we feel incredibly blessed that we found you. We can’t thank you enough!”
