Joe & Joy’s Wedding at Canterbury Cathedral with a First Look

Joe & Joy had their wedding at Canterbury Cathedral and what made this wedding really different was that they had a first look in the gardens in front of the Cathedral before their ceremony in the Crypt. It was really windy outside and as I went out with Joy Joe was waiting for her under the tree. It was really sweet as Joy held Joe from behind then when he turned round they saw each other all ready for their wedding day. It was such an honour to be there and to document it happen! The wind also acted as a great excuse (no, they aren’t tears, it’s just really windy you two). I got to know Joe and Joy a few years back when they were studying in Canterbury and at their wedding there were a few familiar faces which was lovely (including my Son’s classmate who was flower girl!) I love kids at weddings, they bring the fun and the spontaneity but the kids at this wedding took it to another level- they provided SO MANY MOMENTS!! Running around, climbing on things, jumping, dancing- brilliant! The part of the day that really got me was when Joe was making his speech. His Mum was following his speech on a sheet of paper (as she can’t hear) Joe was so honouring to her and most of the room ended up crying. Joe and his Mum embraced during and after the speech. A beautiful moment and a brilliant couple. Joy said…

We already knew Olly and knew that he was the only photographer we wanted. He’s so lovely and easy to chat to and really put us both at ease that everything was on hand and we could just enjoy the day. Both us and our guests absolutely loved having him there. He was so friendly and professional and worked well with our venues. He took the high winds that day into his stride and turned it into an opportunity to take some absolutely beautiful photos. Our pictures were stunning and really helped us to remember how amazing and magical the day was. He caught moments that we’d just been aware of as well as ones that we didn’t know happened! We will treasure the pictures for the rest of our lives.

All of the moments, none of the fuss
