I don’t think I’ve ever known a wedding ceremony like Jamie & Tilly’s at Canterbury Cathedral. It felt just like a Royal Wedding! Jamie is the Assistant Director of Music at Canterbury Cathedral and Tilly is a mezzo-soprano opera singer with long standing connections to the Cathedral. They had their first date at the Cathedral and fast forward a few years they now live on the Cathedral grounds! (We went back to their home in the afternoon for a recital.. and to meet their cat!) I’d got to know them both over the last year- they are clearly so musically gifted and heaps of fun.
Canterbury Cathedral is one of the only buildings that’s left me feeling awe struck. It’s huge, grand and beautifully built. I guess living on site and having it as your place of work might lose that wow factor? Well not at all. Jamie and Tilly organised such an incredible service with the Cathedral Choir and organist leading everyone in worship and the smell of incense filled the building. Throughout the hour and a half I was smiling and taking it all in, pinching myself (metaphorically) as well as trying to photograph it. I’m so grateful to have been part of this wedding and Jamie & Tilly- thanks for being the first couple to video call me from another country buzzing about the preview pics! Enjoy your married life!
We honestly don’t even know where to begin. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you. You didn’t just photograph our wedding; you captured the very soul of it. Every glance, every tear, every ridiculous dance move (!) it’s all there, frozen in time exactly as it felt in the moment. Looking through our photos feels like stepping right back into the day, and that’s such a magical gift.
We always knew we wanted someone who could see beyond the surface, but you went so far beyond that. You didn’t just document, you told our story. You caught the quiet moments, the laughter, the chaos, the love and somehow made it all look effortless. Your warmth and calmness made us (and everyone else!) feel so comfortable, and it truly felt like having a dear friend with us rather than just a photographer.
We can’t stop smiling when we look at the photos. They’re full of heart, honesty and joy, just like you. We’ll treasure them forever, and every time we look through them, we’ll be reminded not only of the happiest day of our lives but also of the wonderful person who helped make it so special.
Thank you for being a part of our day, for being such a brilliant artist, and most of all, for being such a beautiful friend. We’re beyond grateful and so thrilled that you were the one to capture it all.
