I went up to Haughley Park Barn in Suffolk to do Jordan and Bekka’s wedding photography on a cold sunny Saturday in November! These two had got engaged and had been planning their wedding for just a handful of months(!!) but had one of the most fun and creative weddings I’ve shot in 2017! Sometimes Parents don’t totally get the documentary approach to wedding photography but Jordan & Bekka’s Parents certainly did. It was Bekka’s Mum who originally got in contact with me as she was helping Bekka source suppliers then on the wedding morning Bekka’s Dad said “Oh I love documentary photography so much more than the traditional approach!” I wanted to punch the air with joy! I love weddings where people aren’t camera aware and let you just photograph the moments that happen and this was definitely that kind of wedding. In the morning the boys had a Harvester brunch and the girls had pancakes with the family cats wanting to get in on the action! I laughed as several people tried to open the bottle of champagne. I think it took about 5-10 minutes and produced some great expressions! Bekka’s Dad Maurice drove himself and his Daughter in a Maurice Minor(!) to the Church. Bekka’s Grandad was the Vicar leading the ceremony at St Matthews Church in Ipswich. It must have been such a privilege for him. Family played a huge part in the day for Jordan and Bekka. Much of the worship band at the Church and the band in the evening was made up of siblings and Parents. These are two musically gifted families! Haughley Park Barn was decorated in a really festive Christmassy way and I enjoyed sticking around for the speeches then the Cèilidh in the evening. A beautiful moment was when Bekka’s Brother played a song as Bekka and her Dad danced together after the first dance. Jordan and Bekka were wonderfully happy, relaxed and fun. Their families were a pleasure to get to know and I’m really pleased to show you my highlights from the day.
Jordan left me a review to say “Olly was absolutely brilliant from the minute we decided to go with him. Olly’s style of photography is exactly what we wanted and to be honest I didn’t notice him take any photos but noticed he was around. What sets him apart is his warmth and friendliness and it just felt like he was part of the wedding, enjoying and celebrating the day with us. We got a short slideshow with his favourites pictures on and it made everyone we showed it to cry. He went above and beyond to bring our special day to life through his photos. Thank you so much!!!! Mr and Mrs Woodley”
