Doug & Becky’s Wedding at Kent Life
Doug & Becky had their wedding at Kent Life, near Maidstone, on a beautifully sunny Friday in May. I worked at this wedding with Jen (she took a couple of the photos below) so whilst I was with the Becky and the girls getting ready at the hotel she was with the chaps at the venue. It was my first time back at Kent Life in over a year. I love the fact that it’s a working farm with lots of animals and it has a really relaxed feel to it which suits the style of photography I go for. Doug (with kilt!) and Becky got married in the village hall at Kent Life and had time before the meal for drinks, lots of chats and laughter with their family and friends. We went out for a stroll in the evening and as we were walking down a path lots of pigs approached us and proceeded to scratch themselves against the fence, we had to run away from the cloud of dust that followed!! My favourite part of the day was Doug & Becky’s first dance. This was far removed from the normal sway that first dances tend to be. These guys had lessons and tuition for several months in order to make it a really memorable part of the day. The dance turned into a jive and all their guests were applauding and cheering them on. It was great! I love how relaxed and down to earth Doug and Becky are. The perfect type of couple to work for. I hope you enjoy my favourite images from the day.
Becky emailed me to say “Olly, the pictures are brilliant. Some amazing moments captured that tell a whole story by themselves. The natural reactions of everyone are so lovely – even those with their heads in their hands while my Dad was making his speech – hilarious. The smiles, the laughter, the concentration, the emotion, all captured. Some wonderful pictures of my husband and I which we will treasure forever. The style of pictures that you and Jen took were so perfect for our wedding. We wanted everyone to be comfortable, relaxed and able to enjoy the day and that is exactly what we got. Some of our guests said that they barely noticed you and Jen and that was so much nicer than a stuffy photographer shouting “left a bit” or “you in the hat, smile…” a far nicer approach. The photos of the evening guests are great too, so pleased that we asked you to stay. The background antics are fabulous, the more you look the more you see things going on – brilliant! The first dance reaction photo is amazing, the expressions on everyone’s faces are so lovely to see, we were a little too busy to notice them at the time. We definitely made the right choice in photographer, and we knew it from the very start when we met you.”
