Mike & Clare’s Wedding at Swarling Manor

Mike & Clare’s Wedding was my first one of 2021 and after 4 months of lockdown and not being able to photograph I was so pumped to get back to what I love doing. Clare got ready at her Parent’s house with her immediate family and Nieces. Clare’s Dad put on some “Old Bear” videos for the girls and it took me back to my childhood! It’s usually pretty hard walking down the stairs in a wedding dress and heels (so I’m told) but Clare’s journey was even harder as one of her Nieces wanted to walk down with her- it made for some cute photos though. The ceremony was at All Saints Church in Petham. I don’t tend to blog many signing of the register photos but I just loved the moment when Mike and Clare were cracking up after signing (I think after the Vicar said something funny). Covid restrictions meant that Mike & Clare had to keep their wedding to 15 people and have their reception outdoors so a marquee was set up at Swarling Manor. It’s literally at the end of my road but I’ve never been there before. It’s stunning. Loads of beautiful fields surrounding it and a Manor House to greet you too. Stella Grove did an amazing job with the food. The lamb dish was incredible. I’ve missed wedding food!! This was my first wedding with my new mirrorless set up. I’ve gone for the Canon R6 bodies (sticking with 35mm and an 85mm lenses) My old cameras used to get 70% of shots in focus but I was blown away by these new friends- 98% in focus and the eye detection is insane- it tracks people like you wouldn’t believe. I enjoyed being able to shoot silently as well. It made a big difference in the ceremony. I am a big fan of the R6! I’m also a big fan of Mike and Clare- I’ve struck up a good friendship with these two having done their engagement shoot and they don’t get rid of me yet as I’m photographing their wedding celebration in October too! Triple the fun! Enjoy the images. Mike said…

Olly is brilliant. We have so many wonderful photos from our wedding and they really tell the ‘story’ of the day. It’s been an absolute pleasure working with Olly. He’s friendly, helpful and he stayed in touch regularly in the lead up to our wedding. On the day itself Olly struck the perfect balance between being ‘in the right place’ to get great photos and chatting with our guests – everyone said how much they enjoyed his company and how they forgot they were having their photos taken, which is exactly what we had hoped for. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Olly, and we are delighted that he will be taking more photos at our celebration party once COVID restrictions have eased.
